Painted Turtles

Yesterday I watched as several painted turtles sunned themselves on a log in the Mill Brook just east of the Mill Brook Farmstand on Cambridge Turnpike.  The turtles varied in size from one to six inches in shell diameter but all exhibited telltale yellow and orange stripes on their arms.
The Mill Brook watercurrently is very quiet at this location and covered with a layer of bright green pollen which also covered the turtle shells as an effective camouflage.
